Rye

Rye - typical grain crops. Grain rye is used for production of kvass,

flour, which goes mainly on bread, starch, as well as a raw material for alcohol production.

Rye is one of the most common (after mustard) and most valuable green manure.

It effectively inhibits weeds and plant diseases, surpassing other famous green manures because

of the particularly rapid development. Rye has a strong structuring (loosening) effect on loamy soils,

making them lighter and more permeable. Furthermore,

it partially displaces the various pests (especially nematodes), except wireworms,

that on the contrary attracted by rye.
